platform built for students across India. We run live classes, assessments, structured courses, payments, and certifications on a modern web and mobile stack. You'll join a small, focused engineering team where your work ships to real students quickly.
THE ROLE
We're looking for an entry-level backend developer to help build and strengthen the backend of our web application - building APIs, wiring our Next.js frontend to backend services, and improving the reliability and test coverage of what we already have. You'll work closely with our frontend and mobile developers, with mentorship and code review from senior team members. This is a strongly backend-focused role for someone who wants to go deep on server-side engineering, databases, and secure API development.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Build and maintain REST APIs using NestJS (Node.js + TypeScript)
Connect frontend features to backend endpoints handling data flow, validation, and error states end to end
Write integration and end-to-end tests for API endpoints (Jest + Supertest) to lock down behaviour and catch regressions
Build and maintain Postman / Swagger test collections for the main API flows
Write and optimise database queries against PostgreSQL (using the Prisma ORM)
Add input validation, authorisation checks, and consistent error handling to endpoints (following patterns set in code review)
Fix bugs from our tracker and write a regression test for each fix
Integrate third-party services
payments, email, SMS, authentication
following existing patterns
Learn our architecture with guidance from the team, and contribute to backend improvements under senior review SECURITY & DATA PROTECTION (SECURE-CODING PRACTICES) Security is part of writing good backend code here. With guidance and review, you'll:
Add proper authorisation checks so users can only access their own data (grades, payments, enrolments)
Use input-validation DTOs on endpoints to guard against malformed and malicious input
Follow secure patterns for authentication and tokens and payment flows
Handle student personal data and secrets responsibly (no secrets in code; PII treated carefully)
Keep dependencies healthy (pnpm audit) and follow secure defaults for CORS and security headers MUST-HAVE SKILLS
Solid fundamentals in JavaScript/TypeScript and Node.js
Understanding of how REST APIs and HTTP work (requests, responses, status codes)
Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL (joins, indexes, basic query design)
Comfort with Git and collaborative development
Strong CS fundamentals

Eagerness to learn, take feedback, and grow into backend ownership
GOOD TO HAVE
Experience with NestJS or another structured Node.js framework (Express, Fastify)
Familiarity with Prisma or any ORM
Any experience writing automated tests (Jest, Supertest, or similar)
Exposure to Redis, Docker, or AWS
Any experience with authentication (OAuth / Keycloak), WebSockets, or payment gateways (e.g. Cashfree)
A personal project, internship, or open-source contribution showing backend work
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
