About the role
We are seeking a Software Engineer Web Developer – Front End to support the design, development, and deployment of modern user-facing web interfaces in a fast-paced, agile environment. This role will build responsive, accessible, and maintainable frontend solutions, integrate with backend services, and support routine deployment of changes as part of an agile software team. The ideal candidate brings strong frontend development experience, sound implementation judgment, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across engineering teams to support reliable delivery and a strong user experience.
What you'll do
Design, develop, enhance, and maintain modern frontend web interfaces and user-facing application components.
Build responsive web layouts from static images, wireframes, or design assets.
Develop frontend solutions using modern web standards and frameworks, including HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design approaches.
Implement JavaScript-based functionality using modern standards, modularization techniques, and relevant frameworks or libraries.
Consume and integrate RESTful APIs to support user-facing application behavior.
Create and maintain views and templates in full-stack frameworks such as Rails, Express, or Django, as needed.
Work in agile and lean development environments to support iterative delivery and routine deployment of changes.
Use Git and GitHub to support version control, collaboration, and code review workflows.
Support Section 508 compliance and accessibility-conscious implementation.
Troubleshoot frontend defects, usability issues, and integration problems affecting user experience and delivery quality.
Research and adopt new programming tools, techniques, and open-source solutions as needed to support program goals.
Collaborate with software engineers, service developers, testers, and other stakeholders to support successful delivery.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
6+ years of relevant software engineering or frontend web development experience.
Experience using modern frontend web development tools, techniques, and methods for the creation and deployment of user-facing interfaces.
Experience with HTML5, CSS3, responsive design, and CSS frameworks such as LESS, SASS, Bourbon, Twitter Bootstrap, or similar tools.
Experience with JavaScript development using modern standards, strict mode compliance, modularization techniques, and frameworks or libraries such as jQuery, Backbone.js, Ember.js, D3, React, Angular, or similar technologies.
Experience consuming RESTful APIs.
Experience creating views and templates in full-stack frameworks such as Rails, Express, Django, or similar environments.
Experience working in agile or lean development environments, including Scrum.
Experience using Git and GitHub for version control.
Experience supporting Section 508 compliance.
Ability to quickly research and learn new programming tools and techniques.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Angular and/or React in production environments.
Experience with Java service development.
Experience using open-source solutions and engaging with open-source communities.
Experience with Kubernetes and Docker.
Experience with CI/CD tools such as Git, Jenkins, Puppet, or Docker.
