Job Summary A Staff Python Developer is responsible for client success by creating and implementing innovative, scalable solutions to complex business challenges. The Staff Python Developer provides technical direction for Python-based applications, APIs, integrations, and cloud-hosted platforms while partnering across teams to improve engineering workflows and software delivery. This role is expected to solve complex technical problems, guide implementation approaches, identify root causes of software issues, and engineer durable solutions that improve application stability, performance, maintainability, and long-term platform value.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a staff-level technical contributor on complex software development projects, partnering closely with designers, analysts, computational designers, and other developers to deliver scalable and reliable Python-based solutions supporting enterprise and computational design workflows.
Design, build, and maintain Python-based web applications, APIs, background services, and integrations deployed on Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) in support of the organization's Computational Design Systems and digital engineering initiatives.
Provide technical direction for significant system components or end-to-end applications, making sound architectural and implementation recommendations that influence solution quality, maintainability, and cross-team collaboration.
Support planning and execution of the full software development lifecycle, including application architecture, cloud deployment strategies, security considerations, automated testing, and operational support for web-based computational platforms.
Lead the design, implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of sophisticated, scalable, and cloud-native software products while collaborating with project leads, product stakeholders, and development teams.
Write efficient, well-documented Python code and supporting configurations to implement robust software solutions that optimize engineering, analysis, data processing, automation, and integration workflows.
Lead and support software updates, code reviews, automated testing, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and enhancements to ensure long-term reliability, scalability, and maintainability of cloud-hosted applications.
Promote coding standards, reusable design patterns, secure development practices, and cloud-native Python development approaches across project teams.
Research and apply emerging tools, frameworks, libraries, and cloud services β particularly in Python, Azure, GCP, APIs, data processing, and computational design technologies β to enhance system capabilities and improve internal software development processes.
Required Skills
Strong professional experience with Python application development, API design, automated testing, debugging, and modern software engineering practices.
Experience designing, deploying, and supporting cloud-hosted applications or services in Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or similar cloud environments.
Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
Demonstrated critical thinking skills.
Expert in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PPT).
Ability to obtain applicable certifications. Preferred Skills
Experience with web frameworks, REST APIs, data processing workflows, source control, CI/CD practices, and secure software development patterns.

Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field and 5 years of related professional software development experience β Required.
Associate's Degree and 5 years of related professional software development experience β Required.
High School Diploma/GED and 7 years of related professional software development experience β Required. Required Experience
