Job Description
About the role
: Product Design at Uber is about more than just making things look good—it's about architecting how people and things move in the physical world. As a Lead Product Designer, you will turn massive complexity into clarity at speed, navigate competing priorities, and lead through influence, not control. This is a high-impact environment where you will solve what is hard to shape the future of movement. This role is on our Earner design team, building the platform Earners rely on to plan and move through their day. You'll shape how millions of Drivers and Couriers experience Uber across surfaces and form factors, from tablet and foldable phone design to the earner assistant, where AI and voice help people navigate their day hands-free. You'll also contribute to the universal systems every earner interaction depends on, like how the app handles loading and latency. You'll work closely with engineers, data scientists, product managers, and some of the best designers and researchers in the field, in a fast-paced, collaborative setting. This is a 0-to-1 role. You'll make big decisions without perfect information and own the outcomes, whether that means defining how an Earner interacts with a foldable device or how they speak to their assistant to plan out their day. You'll navigate high-stakes ambiguity, balance near-term execution with long-term vision, and advocate for the user in a fast-moving, technical space. If you think critically and thrive on solving problems with real-world impact at a global scale, this is where you'll grow.
What You Will Do
: • Lead human-centered experience design for high-impact domains, defining new interaction patterns and service models where none exist today, including for voice-first experiences. • Own design problems end-to-end, from early-stage research and conceptual wireframes to high-fidelity prototypes and final production-ready assets. • Design conversational and voice interactions for the earner assistant, helping Earners plan and move through their day hands-free. • Partner as a key thought leader with Product, Engineering, and Operations to define
requirements
and shape the strategic roadmap, not just translate them into mocks. • Design across digital and physical touchpoints, translating complex logistical and technical systems into clear, intuitive flows for mobile, tablet, foldable, and voice interfaces. • Maintain and evolve Uber's design language by contributing to shared systems and foundational patterns, including universal systems like loading and latency, that ensure consistency across global platforms. • Prototype rapidly to test hypotheses and validate ideas early, using data and user research to iterate and raise the bar for quality and trustworthiness. Time Spent in the Day: • 40% Crafting UI/UX designs, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes in Figma or with AI. • 25% Collaborating cross-functionally to define
