The role
We are looking for a Senior UI/UX Designer to improve how students discover, evaluate and enquire aboutaccommodation on Casita. You will own design from problem definition and research through to delivery and improvement after launch. This is a hands-on senior individual contributor role. You will work with product, engineering and commercial teams to make complex accommodation choices easier, building experiences that earn student trust and support business growth.
What you will do
Own key journeys across responsive web, including city and university discovery, search and filters, property and room details, enquiries, and the transition to booking support. Plan and run user interviews and usability tests. Combine findings with behavioural data and feedback from booking specialists to identify friction and prioritise improvements. Turn ambiguous problems into clear flows, wireframes, interactive prototypes and polished interfaces.Explain your decisions and the trade-offs behind them. Make accommodation information easier to understand, including total costs, room options, availability,tenancy length, location and booking conditions. Design for mobile first and different languages, devices and access needs. Apply WCAG 2.2 AA principles to navigation, forms, contrast, focus states and error recovery. Build and maintain reusable components, design tokens and usage guidance with engineers, improvingconsistency across the product. Work with product and analytics colleagues to define success measures, shape experiments and evaluatereleased changes using evidence. Partner with content, SEO and marketing colleagues on page structure, navigation and clear microcopy,balancing discoverability with usability. Provide implementation specifications covering responsive behaviour, interactions, loading, empty anderror states. Review builds with engineers and resolve issues before and after release. Lead design critiques, help colleagues develop their design judgement and influence priorities through clear recommendations. What you will bring 5+ years of UI/UX or product design experience, with evidence of independently taking complex webexperiences from discovery to launch. A portfolio showing shipped work, strong visual and interaction design, your individual contribution, andhow research or evidence influenced decisions. Advanced Figma skills, including Auto Layout, components, variants, variables and interactive prototyping. Practical experience conducting research and usability testing, interpreting product analytics, and usingfindings to improve a live product. Strong fundamentals in information architecture, typography, layout, responsive design and accessibleinteraction patterns. Experience contributing to a design system and working closely with engineers on implementation quality. Clear communication, sound prioritisation and the ability to challenge assumptions constructively whileworking within delivery constraints.A degree in design, human-computer interaction or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, iswelcome. We place greater weight on demonstrated ability and portfolio quality.Useful additional experience Experience in accommodation, travel, marketplaces, e-commerce or other products involving consideredpurchase decisions. Experience with localisation, multilingual interfaces or right-to-left layouts. Working knowledge of HTML and CSS, web performance and implementation constraints. Thoughtful use of AI-assisted design or prototyping tools, with human validation and care for confidential information.
