The UI/UX Lead will define the overarching user experience strategy across a complex operational and customer facing product ecosystem. Responsibilities
: Strategic Vision & Product Advocacy • Develop and execute a clear vision for the function of UX & UI within the Product organization, acting as a passionate advocate of design methods for the rest of the business. • Support and enable a research-driven, customer-centric way of working moving beyond assumptions to observe real-world operational realities. • Partner seamlessly with Product Managers at a strategic level to align UX strategy with business objectives and product roadmaps. • Confidently work with and challenge stakeholders from all levels of seniority to ensure

solve genuine operational problems rather than just prescribing features. Tactical Design & Delivery Orchestration • Lead the UI/UX execution during the critical pre-build design phase. Mandate observational research and user shadowing to identify manual workarounds and edge cases before designing solutions. • Enforce a strict quality gate where all designs are usability-tested against real-world exceptions and signed off by the business prior to engineering handover. • Work closely with the Product and Engineering teams to establish, advocate, and maintain a unified design system and common UI/UX language across all products. • Foster a collaborative partnership with UI Developers and Dev Leads, ensuring designs are technically viable within the architecture and do not introduce unnecessary technical debt. • Apply excellent creative problem-solving skills to transform complex B2B workflows into highly efficient, intuitive interfaces. Team Leadership & Practice Management • Ensure all design team members are productive and deeply embedded in their respective agile product teams, working effectively alongside Product Owners. • Champion a culture of continuous improvement, high-quality delivery, and collaborative problem-solving. • Establish a career progression plan for the UX/UI practice within ISS. • Mentor, upskill, and inspire design team members to excellence. • Recruit new members and ensure they have enjoyable and effective onboarding experience. Success Metrics: • Validation & Sign-Off Rate: 100% of major workflow designs are prototyped, usability-tested against real-world exceptions, and formally signed off by business stakeholders prior to engineering handover. • Delivery Alignment: Zero sprint delays caused by incomplete or technically unfeasible design specifications; seamless integration of the design discovery phase with the Release Manager’s delivery calendar. • Design System Adoption: Successful establishment and measurable adoption of a unified UI/UX design system across all internal product squads. • Team Maturation & Integration: Successful retention and measured productivity of the embedded UI/UX designers, ensuring they operate seamlessly alongside Product Owner. Knowledge: • Deep understanding of UI/UX design tools, including wire-framing and interactive prototyping (e.g., Figma), and the mechanics of building scalable design systems. • Strong theoretical and practical grasp of user-cantered design principles, field-based UX research methodologies, and agile product development life cycles. • Expertise in embedding product-led methodologies and user-centric design practices. • Familiarity with Agile frameworks—specifically how design integrates smoothly with
