Job Description
Job Title: Senior Software Engineer (Python) Location: Hybrid
Overview
We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to support federal software engineering efforts, primarily focused on operations and maintenance of Data.gov applications. The ideal candidate has strong Python and Flask experience, and is comfortable working in a dockerized development environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain REST APIs using Python and Flask
- Support operations and maintenance of CKAN-based data platform applications
- Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines via GitHub Actions
- Write and maintain test coverage using pytest and playwright
- Conduct code reviews and contribute to engineering standards
- Build and maintain UI components using HTMX, SCSS, and the USWDS design system
Required Skills
- 6+ years of Python backend development experience
- Proficiency with Flask, Jinja, and REST API design
