Job Description
: We are seeking a seasoned and visionary Director of UX/UI Design to lead the design function at Billeasy. In this senior leadership role, you will own the design vision, strategy, and execution across our product portfolio in transit & retail, and digital payments. You will build and mentor a high-performing design team, set the bar for craft and quality, and partner with founders, Product, and Engineering as an equal stakeholder in shaping what we build. You will translate complex financial and transactional flows into intuitive, accessible, and trustworthy experiences — and ensure every designer who works with you grows faster than they expected to.
Key Responsibilities
Define and own the long-term UX/UI vision and design strategy for Billeasy's product portfolio, aligned with business and growth goals.
Lead, mentor, and grow the design team hire designers and researchers, run 1-on-1s, conduct performance reviews, and build a structured design career ladder.
Drive the end-to-end UX design process for high-stakes flows (KYC, payments, refunds, dispute resolution), personally reviewing critical work before it ships.
Own and evolve the Billeasy design system in Figma components, tokens, patterns, and accessibility standards ensuring consistency across all products.
Stand up a repeatable user research practice (qualitative + quantitative): discovery interviews, usability testing, post-launch tracking within the financial domain.
Translate complex

, user flows, and financial data into clean, intuitive, and easy-to-use interfaces. • Partner with Product Managers, Engineers, Data Analysts, and Marketing as an equal stakeholder to define product

and deliver polished, user-friendly solutions. • Use data analytics and user feedback to inform design decisions and iterate on features to improve key metrics like conversion, engagement, retention, and user satisfaction. • Champion UX best practices across the organization; build a critique culture that raises the bar without bruising egos. • Clearly articulate and present design rationale and vision to founders, clients, partners, and stakeholders at every level of the company. • Set and track design OKRs tied to product and business outcomes; run sprint cadences, design reviews, and quarterly planning for the team.
Requirements
: • 8–10 years of product design experience, with at least 3 years leading designers (lead, manager, or director). • A portfolio with 2–3 deeply shipped products you can walk us through end-to-end: research → decisions → trade-offs → outcomes. • Demonstrated experience in fintech, payments, banking, insurance, or similarly regulated/high-trust domains. • Mastery of Figma (Mandate). Working knowledge of prototyping tools like Protopie, Figma prototyping, Sketch, or Adobe XD. • Strong foundation in design systems you've built or substantially evolved at least one at production scale. • Hands-on user research experience: you can run a usability test yourself, not just brief a vendor. • Proven track record of mentoring designers from junior to mid, and mid to senior with references who can vouch for it. • Strong written and verbal communication you can write a design rationale doc that an engineer, a PM, and a founder all understand.
